Residents will present their petition calling for urgent refurbishment of Meadway Recreation Ground at the next meeting of Reading Borough Council.

The petition – launched by the Liberal Democrats and supported by hundreds of residents – urges the Council to commit to a long-overdue upgrade of the much-loved park. Campaigners argue that Meadway Rec has been neglected for too long and needs modern facilities so that families, young people and the wider community can enjoy it safely.

Residents say the refurbishment would not only enhance opportunities for play and recreation but also foster a stronger sense of community spirit and provide a healthier, greener space for everyone to enjoy.

Resident and parent Chloe Kidd, who will be presenting the petition, said, “Meadway Rec park has the potential to enrich and strengthen our community; instead, it has been neglected and is no longer fit for purpose. Residents are calling for the council to invest in the park, so that it can once again bring joy to families.”

Liberal Democrat councillors will support residents as they present the petition at the Full Council meeting, ensuring that the call for investment in Meadway Rec is heard loud and clear.
