Why you should vote for Annette
23 April 2008

POLLING DAY IS NEAR

The result could be close between your hard working local Lib Dem candidate, Annette Hendry, and the Tory candidate who lives outside the Borough

Annette is local
Annette has lived in Caversham for 30 years, and has been involved in local issues for many years, as a parent of 3 children educated at local state schools, and later as a committee member and chairman of Caversham & District Residents’ Association.

Annette is experienced
Annette
was one of the Liberal Democrat Councillors representing Peppard ward on Reading Borough Council between 2000 and 2007. During this time she campaigned to improve bus services and to keep a Post Office in Emmer Green. She is a School Governor at Emmer Green Primary School, and is active on the management committees of several local community groups, including the North Reading Youth Project and Caversham Park Village Residents’ Association.

Annette is committed to the community
Annette
has spent much time working with voluntary groups across the town. She is the current chairman of Reading Citizen’s Advice Bureau. As a qualified social worker, Annette wants high quality services for children and young people, from pre-school, through the education system, and within the youth service. She also fears Tories in Reading could cut social care to the elderly, just as their colleagues have done in Wokingham & West Berks, to keep council tax low by reducing vital services without caring about the consequences.
