Daisy Benson

Daisy Benson
Daisy is a councillor in Redlands.
I am Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Reading Borough Council.
I represent Redlands ward in central Reading which includes the communities of Erleigh Road, Hexham Road, Northumberland Avenue, Christchurch Road and London Road.
Originally hailing from North London, I have lived in the Borough since 2003 and have been a councillor since 2006.
I care passionately about delivering decent, affordable housing for all, as well as providing excellent care to older and vulnerable adults in Reading.
Between May 2010 and May 2011 I served as Lead Member for Housing, Health and Community Care reflecting my keen interest and track record in these areas.
Over the years I have led campaigns around improving estates, tackling anti-social behaviour, overcrowding, improved standards in the private rented sector and dementia care.
I have previously been Chair of the Housing and Community Care Scrutiny Panel (2008-10), Chair of the South Reading Safer Forum (2009-10) and the Safer Reading Campaign.
I am a member of the North Whitley Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) and I am keen to support any residents affected by anti-social behaviour problems and where necessary engage the Police and other authorities to tackle issues.
I have also worked with residents to address issues of noise and other nuisance behaviour relating to licensed premises in the ward.
